The Twins: This Is How It's Always Been
This Is How It's Always Been captures my early adulthood as an identical twin. Starting at age 19 I looked to document everyday life with my sister Chloe as we approached significant changes in our normal relationship. I began photographing moments in an attempt to answer the question always asked, what's it like to be a twin? It seemed, however, to leave more questions than answers. By capturing our daily routines and placing the viewer in our normal life I could show our relationship while commenting on the preconceived ideas of twins. I let the viewer into moments reserved only for my sister and showed what it means to be us. How much we love each other, but also the struggle to feel whole when you have always been seen as half. The Twins is an exploration of identity. What identity means to two people who are always assumed to share one. While also showing the unique and powerful bond in my most intimate relationship. I share in this book the love impossible to replicate. How we move through life together as we no longer are known as The Twins.
